Can anyone recommend a good spot in LHR Terminal 3 from which to view the runway or ramp? It'll have to be airside as the other half always wants to get checked in and through security before she can relax!

Other than the Gates themselves, I cannot recollect any general areas in T3 that you can view aircraft movements.

My overriding impression of the place is that it is window-less, claustrophobic and lacks any feeling of spaciousness. Given it was built 40 years ago and has had to cope with massive increases, my impression is not surprising.

There are no windows in the main terminal, head to gates 1-10 and you get a good view of the south runway and normally the A380 parked up. Of course the best view is from the clubhouse windows...

T1 domestic departures is pretty good for runway views.

Thanks guys, hopefully we'll be departing from gates 1 > 10 otherwise I might take a quick stroll down there to find out what I can see.

Don't forget the roof garden in the Clubhouse [y]

Not sure how much you'd get to see from the gates as most of them are sealed off and only pax for that plane can get through to them and with the seperation of pax
