V-Flyer

Probably a bit early to ask but will anyone on here know which aircraft is likely to be on this route? Is it one of the usual LGW/MAN fleet with the potential joy of Nova or will I be lucky in getting an LHR aircraft? Also, if it were to be an LHR plane am I right to assume that these don't have the extra legroom, non-exit row seats?

The LGW/MAN fleet is made up of eight B744's - five (VGAL, VLIP, VROM, VROS, VROY) have the Nova entertainment system and the other three (VAST, VTOP and VXLG) have the Odyssey system.

There is a small chance because of operational reasons that an LHR B744 could operate the flight however this is a very small chance. Usually when an LHR B744 is at LGW, it operates the BGI route.

You be able to find out which aircraft you'll be travelling on by looking out of the window when you arrive at the gate for boarding.

And you are correct to assume that the LHR B744's do not have the extra legroom seats but you would still be able to purchase exit row seats on the day as long as you meet all the requirements to be able to sit there.

Thanks for the swift response and the useful information - not sure the sarcastic response regarding looking out of the window was really necessary though[:?]

It wasn't sarcasm. it was simply stating a fact.

Since the World Trade Centre murders, airlines have kept the exact aircraft flying a route to themselves. They won;t release the information beforehand, so the only way you can tell for sure which aircraft you are on is to look out of the window at the airport.

I don't think the window comment was sarcastic. In fact it was a good tip for you to find out the most accurate and quickest way of which exact aircraft you will be flying on.

Also, if you do OLCI, you can tell whether you've got a plane with Nova or Odyssey (IIRC the Nova planes have two rows of Economy seating behind PE on the lower deck whereas Odyssey planes have four). Am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

When you do OLCI they have already worked out which plane you're going to be on (and this is available 24hrs before departure). This can change though but I believe it is quite rare.
