How to upgrade at airport?

Hi,
a fairly straightforward question i hope but could save some time and embarrassment.
Where do we attempt to upgrade at the airport, either by attempting to use miles or cash. Or to purchase extra legroom seats? We are planning to try twilight check in shortly after midday. Do we ask at check in desk or at ticket sales?
Also we are on the VS15 on 9th November. Would anyone be kind enough to tell me loads in economy and premium economy to see whether upgrading would be a possibility or whether economy is empty.
thanks in advance

Load is
J8 D8 R8 Z8 W9 S9 K9 Y4 B4 L4 M4 Q4 X4 N1
So it looks 'wide open' to me
As to HOW to upgrade at the airport, I don't know - but there's someone on V-FLyer who can tell you (and me!) I'm sure

Just ask at the check-in desk as I'm fairly sure all VS check-in agents can process credit/debit card transactions now (certainly at UK airports)
Even if they can't process the transaction, they will send you to the ticket desk so just visit the check-in desks first.

Not sure about LGW, but at MAN we sort out the seats/how much you need to pay for an upgrade at check-in and then send one person to the ticket desk to pay.
God forbid if they let us mere check-in staff handle money, VS really wouldn't have any money left!

Sorry, it might just be LHR then, as I've paid for upgrades using a credit card at the check-in desks there.

Ouch .... [}:)]
Last time i flew VS I was shuttled off to the 'transaction desk' even for a miles upgrade, but it was very early in the morning and the check-in staff at LHR couldn't do it yet...
Anyhow, basic message is, ask and ye shall be given, on availability of the goods and production of the means of payment. Check-in staff will instruct you on what to do exactly, whether you do this at their desk, or at some other desk.
