Hi,

Im wondering if any of you can help me,

I am planning a trip to Australia for late next year/early 2011 but have on problem, my wife really hates flying so I would therefore like to find the quickest route from Heathrow to Sydney.

So heres my question,

Does anybody know what is the quickest route from LHR - SYD???,
Im not fussed about the block time (meaning the overall time including the stop over) but the two individual flights that would get me there and there flight time(s)

I have looked at the different cities to go by, HKG, DXB, SIN, BKK even LAX with a connection from V Australia and even JNB with a connection from V Australia but have no real idea of the exact flight times just with the stop over included.

Any help would be really appreciated,

Thanks,

A neat way to is to look at Expedia and look at all the options - on the summary screen it shows the total scheduled journey time and if you select any option it shows the individual flight lengths so you can work out the stopovers too - I see a Thai journey with a 21hr journey time among the shortest overall.

Boy, you choose an easy journey to test your wife's fear of flying! Why not drive to France instead [:D].

Thanks for your help!!!

Just looked on expedia, but do you have to do a dummy booking on the website to get the flight times???

Yes you need to do a dummy booking. Expedia is a great tool to look at flight times and aircraft scheduled for routes.

Thanks,

WOW, wife scared of flying and sending her to SYD, you are a brave man! Going via HKG is one of the shortest routes I've seen. However no matter how you look at it, it is on long haul flight. Have you thought of breaking the journey up? (time permitting) If so EK would be good, as only 8 hours to DXB, then you could fly to SIN/BKK and then onward? maybe worth a try?

Good luck mate.

Is your wife scared of the take-off/landing bits, or the whole flight? If it is the former, then the actual flight time is not that important, but the number of times that the plane lands en route. The other thing to consider, is what class are you travelling in, and the cost of this in relation to the time that it is taking.
