Anyone know the rhyme or reason for when a 300 or a 600 goes to IAD? I have a flight next week and am hoping a 600 shows up.

If you go into the My Booking page on the VS website and look at the seat map for your flight it should be able to tell you if it is a 343 or a 346 but according to Expertflyer it is a 343 all next week.
My Booking should be more accurate though

Only been there once, earlier this year, went out on a 346, came back on a 343.

It's scheduled to be on a 300 for the whole winter season now

Ah, yes both bookings say A340-300 but I thought there might be a chance of that not being 100% official.
I really can't wait until they get rid of the 300's...

It changes depending on the load. I returned from IAD a week ago, and it was scheduled to be 300 both ways, but the IAD-LHR return leg turned out to be on a 600. You could see which way it was headed by the loads in the days before the flight; completely full, and if it was oversold....

Don't forget one ifvtge 300's has v-port so is as up to date as the 600's, but with just a slightly different layout.

I went to IAD previously in a A343 and once you have been spoilt with V:Port, the Odyssey system just does not cut it. Strangely G-VSUN with V:Port was at the next gate at LHR flying to somewhere else. I have no gripe with A343 but just wish they all have V:Port fitted.

I planned it perfectly! I was on a 300 to LHR that had V:Port / new seats and on a 600 back to IAD with the new seats!
