I'm taking a poster with me to Orlando on Sunday and just wondering if I'll be able to take it on with me as hand luggage? The tube is approx 80cm x 7cm.

Thanks in advance

Jonathan

I would have thought so. Umbrella's and walking sticks are allowed so I can't imagine this is any different size wise to one of those. Might be worth a call to VS to clarify, but not even sure they will know 100% accurately.

We brought something similar back from Oz last week, as long as lays comfortably in the overhead bins, they weren't that bothered.. we were in UC, however internal DL flight in Y didn't throw up any issue either.

It did get a special ticket attached to main luggage (big orange 'BX') to say Chk-in had verified it as ok.

I would think it would be fine. I've seen many a Didgeridoo on the Oz flights too.

Thanks,
Sarah

[:(!] An assumption there Sarah [:D], give us some credit, in fact a large peice of Aboriginal artwork, handpainted by a famous artist.

PS: its worth constructing a handle out of string/ tape, as makes the whole trip through to the plane easier.

Think I'll chance it and see what happens.

I've managed the following as hand luggage :

4x4 Snorkel (Cabin Crew thought it was a Didgeridoo). I was in PE, travelling from SFO.
Large Poster Tube, many times. In PE, travelling from SFO and LAS & LHR
Poster rolled up. In UC from Sydney.

I don't think you'll have a problem, just don't forget it ! I did at LHR and had to go back out through immigration and back through security.

I had no problem in the end. At Gatwick the check-in agent (who worked for Swissport) asked me to double check with the Virgin staff and at Orlando on the way back, she didn't bother to ask about my hand luggage at all.
