Any suggestions as to where I should plonk myself for the flight back from LAX to LHR on VS008?

I enjoyed the upstairs experience back from SFO except the purple mood lighting was left on throughout the flight so a bit difficult to sleep - is this usual?

Would welcome any recommendations as to which seats to go for, for a good kip on the way back!

have a look at some of the trip reports. Though it does comedown to personal prefrance.

Also the seat ratings on here can help too as can the comments on seat expert and seat guru.

The usuals of try to avoid the loos and the bar apply.

i would possibly opt for the nose downstairs if you want to go downstairs, rather than the cabin behind the bar. I personally have had worse service upstairs, than downstairs, so as said it comes down to personal preference.

I think I would opt for downstairs in the nose as well for the simple reason that the new configuration will mean that there are Y passengers in the latter part of the bubble. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Y pax but it will mean that the bubble is less quiet than when it was all UC and that priority disembarkation becomes meaningless

I agree with HL - when the upper deck was 10 UC and 20 PE, then 20 UC, it was peaceful and the service was excellent. Now, with 10 UC and 33 Y all I envisage is noise, discomfort, poorer service, slower egress ...

I still can't believe they're putting y pax upstairs - ridiculous!

The bar's going to be carnage with the great unwashed trying their arm all day long.

As for your flight, go for the A-zone in the nose every time; bigger seats, loads of space, quite and exclusive..

I'm guessing that you're travelling on the VS008 between 20 July and 10 September as these are currently the only dates this summer that a B744 is scheduled to operate this route.

If this is when you're travelling, I would recommend trying to get a seat in A zone as there is plenty of space. If you're planning on sleeping, try to avoid row 19 as this is right next to the galley.

Sorry for being a bit thick, but what's the A zone? Currently got myself downstairs in seats 17a and 18a... how's that?

A zone is the nose section of the B744. 17A and 18A are very good seats! [:X]

I wouldn't worry about it - 19A is a good seat - I have sat in it on the way to and from SFO. The only concern would be the possible noise from the galley on a night flight if you were planning on sleeping. But a daytime flight will be great!

Here's the view from 18A - as you can see there is a LOT of space in A zone so it doesn't feel claustophobic at all.
