V-Flyer

Its a moan I guess. I am the only one to think that the promos of late for miles earning have all been a bit crappy. I did very while out of the Avis Triple miles promo, albeit getting the points to post correctly has been fun, and I fluked it on the US airways promo, I had to take a last minute trip, MAN-PHL-LAX rtn, that netted not only the normal tier points for a LHR-LAX but a healthy dose of mileage, but post xmas when most airlines are crying out for additional bums in seats VA's promos all seem rather dull.

I think it is just another sign of cut backs that have affected every part of the VS set up. (except maybe certain people's bonuses!)

Remember Gold card holder events? Garden Parties at SRB's house? etc. etc. etc.

It is yet another signal that VS is now 'just another airline' and the days of innovation, and special treatment for frequent fliers are but a distant memory. [V]

Having said that, the bonus points on the FC Amex card weren't too shabby at Christmas - but I think that was more down to MBNA than VS.

The AmEx 50% bonus mile promo proved to be very fruitful I have found, well it will be when they move the 9,500 miles they missed off in to my account.

I guess you kind of sum it up in your post. Yes, airlines want bums on seats, but more so, they want revenue, so would much prefer pax paying with cash, rather than those using all the extra miles that they have because of any fantastic promos.

Have to say for me the 50% bonus at Christmas on MBNA Amex miles was a very good promo, i was able to absolutly cane it, over the 2 months I received 45k bonus miles !! (some where the extra VH ones and some the bonus miles on the VH bonus )

It helped that 6 of us had a holiday booked with VH which we didn't need to pay until feb 2010, but i paid it on the Amex in december, and they paid me back

Also another bonus was VH didn't charge me a credit card fee due to an error on their part which they honoured. So even better [:D]
