Tier points with Partner airline

I am due to fly Seattle (SEA) to Atlanta (ATL) next month on US Airways and hope to get tier points. VFC only award TPS if the flight is over 2000miles, the trouble is despite the journey being well in excess of 2000 miles my trip has a change at Pheonix (PHX) which means that the journey of 2700 is split into 2 flights of 1106 and 1583. I will get the miles but will I still get the tier points? Any ideas?

I think the best thing to do would be to give FC a call. They will be able to clarify for certain as it is not straight forward.

Welcome to the site.
A very similar question was asked few days ago -
see this thread. The consensus there seems to be that, as the journey is split into two different legs with different flight numbers, it won't count as a flight > 2000 miles and therefore won't earn a tier point.
Unless anyone knows different?

I have done LGA-SAC and have had this conversation many times. They say it all depends on how the airline sends the information to them. I have then tried explaining that to the other airline. I have gotten exactly nowhere. You could try to upgrade. Let us know how you get on.

The other airline will communicate that you took two completely separate flights with different flight numbers (assume this is the case), so no TPs. Unfortunately there is no way for USair to tell VFC you took one flight, when in fact you took two. Bummer, but not much we can do about this.

Thanks for the feedback guys....looks like if I want the TPS I must change the route (which I can for the same money) via CLT or upgrade to business....

I did ask FC for their advice but only about 5 days ago so I guess I need to wait another 15 days for a reply.....they do seem real slow!

OK things change - I did the flight via Philadelphia and earned the TPS on the out and return legs which were both in excess of 2K miles - however a new more complex issue has arisen.....
The final leg (short 200 mile trip) I upgraded to first class due to potentially missing the flight in the snow that hit the east coast (first guaranteed me a seat on the next flight if I missed due to a late arrival of my connection) as it was I made the flight and all was well. Looking at my VF statement I see all the miles have been credited apart from the 1st class leg and the associated TPS. This critical thing is that this TPS gets me Gold status IF it is credited by the end of March (my year expires then and I lose 4 TPS). I have sent in the BC stub and the booking confirmation (fortunately I kept this stub as normally USAir keep the stubs).
My new question is this, if my TPS is not credited before the end of March and I miss out on Gold by the one point will VFC backdate me to the date I actually flew or is it tough luck?
One for the experts me thinks!

Whenever I've sent stubs in they credit them on the day of travel so you should be fine. You might want to just give them a call. I had an issue with one of my US airways stubs and they were having difficulty with it and ended up crediting it as a CO flight that I had missed but had a boarding pass for!
