A few questions...

Might sound a bit of a strange question, but it's my first time travelling out of LHR with VS and I was wondering if they had the same set up at the boarding gate where there are free magazines and newspapers?

Previously been a LGW traveller so this will be an interesting experience! [}:)]

Also, just had a quick look at the forecast for JFK on Wednesday and its looking like heavy snow showers, great! How do they cope with this type of weather; a lot better than the UK airports I hope?

Yes there are racks with magazines and newspapers - I can't precisely tell you what they are since I usually stride right past them (but I glance, Daily Heil, Heat, Hola!, sometimes Business Traveller, etc.).

I too am travelling Wednesday (to Newark) and keeping an eye on the weather. Currently the forecast is nothing like the snow storm in Washington and yes, these airports are so much better than ours at coping with winter weather, but still exceptional weather can knock them out!

At least you'll almost certainly get V:Port!

Depends on how much snow there is and wind speeds etc but they do get this sort of weather on a regular basis whereas in the UK its not as common.

There have been lots of flight cancellations in the DC area due to 2 feet of snow and at the moment Dulles is open but all flight have been cancelled.

I think the forecast is better for wednesday - thats when it hits us here in the UK !

Must have been placed in error then, but I picked on up ( [:I] ) boarding two weeks ago.

Or, it could have been 'Beat', or 'Between the Sheets' or heaven knows what ... all I recall is the usual tales of cellulite, sex, money, torso of the week and silly gossip!
