Very cold Air conditioning

I went from Heathrow to Johannesburg recently and then back from Cape Town to Heathrow - the outward trip on a 747-400 and the return on an A340-600.
In both cases the cabin air conditioning was set very cold before take off. Is this normal these days with Virgin?
On the A340 from Cape Town it was so cold that there was mist forming around the air vents in the ceiling. I've not seen that before - is it common?
After take-off the cabin warmed up nicely.

In regards to the mist, that will happen anytime the air is very humid, nothing to worry about, the aircraft is just making it's own little cloud formations [:D] Of course if little bolts of lightening start coming out of it there may be an issue [:0]
On the ground the aircraft are normally hooked up to the AC pack attached to the air bridge, IMHO I would rather have it to cold than to hot which is normally the case.
Glad to hear everything settled down after take off.

Yes the 340 cabin can quite often look like something from 'Stars in Their Eyes' with all the mist when in a hot climate - it's completely normal.

I found
this video on You Tube which shows the mist in the cabin on another Airbus.

The Air Asia planes we have been on recently were misting profusely from the air vents when we got on.
As others have said, not a problem.
