Booked a car with Alamo via the VH link on the VA site and they have now mailed to with a link that allows on-line check-in.

You simply enter your agreement number and name, then your details including licence details. When you arrive at the depot, instead of waiting in line, you head to the parking garage and off you go.

Of course, we'll we if it's that easy in May.

First I've heard of this being introduced except to their frequent hirer program

Last time I had a look at the VS home page they alluded to this coming up. I thought they said it was from 1 Mar but perhaps they have brought it forward. Looking forward to trying it in May too, darren [:w]

It looks good. Only at main airports though by the look of it, which is no good for us! Tut.

Was the booking pre-paid?

I tried to do it, but it only invited me to fill in details to shorten pick up time.

..Hang on I suppose it would need to be pre-paid or at least a CC lodged with them.

I think all bookings made through VH or the travel plus site are pre-paid.

Pre-paid wne booked.

If it saves me even a minute in the 7th level of Hell known as the Las Vegas Airport car rental centre I'm all for it. Hot does not do it justice.

It's great isn't it - no more waiting in line [y]

I got exactly the same confirmation Darren after booking our car hire for pick up in San Diego. I then used the URL they provided to check-in with Alamo, enter driving license details and print off the rental agreement. Like you all we need to do on the day is go straight to the parking garage and pick our car. There's an option to go to a self serve kiosk if you want to make any last minute changes. Rental agreement and driving licenses checked on exit.

Here's the press release from Alamo confirming their new partnership with Virgin http://www.alamo.co.uk/Pressrelease/740/uk/2009/12649/

Virgin seem to have introduced a new branding 'Virgin Atlantic Travel Plus' although my confirmation email was a mixture of everything ....Thank you for booking your car with Virgin Atlantic/Virgin Holidays (via Travelplus)[:?]

Cheers
James

Oh well. I'll just have to queue. I'm getting the rental cheaper through

http://www.alamo.co.uk/brits

than VH, over and above the miles I'll not get. (I'll pay Amex locally and get a few back)

Hopefully the vs $ won't do anything stupid for you and you lose out badly, of course if it goes the way you could be quids in.

Join Quicksilver via http://www.alamo.com then you can bypass the counter.[:D] You will also then get access to some great promos like doulbe upgrade for example.

The price quoted in pounds is fixed. You pay the current dollar equivalent of that price when you pick up.

You can also go through Quidco to the deal, I believe.

UPDATE:

Have today used Alamo OLCI for my upcoming trip to Orlando in May. Absolutely no problem using the site and in 5 mins had a confirmed check-in printed. Roll on May [^]
