THere is an article on a Ghanaian website saying that VS are going to start operations to Accra from june this year. Has anyone heard anything about this?

I've heard this being mentioned before. Apparently it's suppose to be a high value route money-wise.

May be once a week to replace MRU?

The rumours about Accra have been going around for a while.

Would be fairly pointless really at once a week- especially when you take into account the fact that all the rivals on the ACC route, so Ghana International (who have a good little operation out of LGW), plus the usual duo of KLM/AF and LH will operate the route at a much higher frequency. Certainly ACC would be more akin to LOS than MRU in terms of type of passenger and frequency IMHO.

although i would love to have the chance of UC down to ACC i can't actually see this happening. I fly this route on a fairly regular basis and in recent times the BA flights have been very empty. BA fly a 777 to Accra in the winter nad some days there have bene less than 100 on board and that includes the crew!

GIA have really hurt BA, their service and allowances are generous and have a far better on time rating than BA for this route.

Certainly building the Africa connections.
So with a future route to S. America, Virgin will only need NZSP to make it a clean sweep.
