I think the earliest you can book your seats is 180 days in advance.

If you book with VS, you can request seats as soon as you book.

Nothing is guaranteed though.

It is about 11 months, I think they actually class it officially as 330 days, and that is from the return date.

Hi all

What if the flights were booked as part of a package holiday or fly drive with Virgin Holidays?

Thanks for the replies.

If travelling as part of a package through VH for example, VH will take the package booking and hold the seat allocations.

As the seats become available on the VS system, Virgin Holidays will advise VS of the booking and the seats will be allocated from the VH block.

You can still usually manage your booking, and select your seats on the VS website, just like you can if you booked direct with VS. Your VH booking reference should allow you access, and as long as the flight is on the VS system, ie within the 11 months, you should have no problem.

I know that some seats are kept until day of take off (like exit/bulk heads), but are more seats released nearer departure or are all that will be available 330 days ahead?

Only 60% of seats are available for pre-allocation. The remaining 40%, open at OLCI stage, 24 hours before the flight. Bulkheads and exit rows are only allocated at the airport.

If you can select seats now, then select the best ones you can now.

You can then do OLCI and see if any better ones come up and if they do then nab those - otherwise stick with the ones you have already selected.

When You get to the airport you can still ask about bulkheads / exit rows even though you have done OLCI.

That way even if you don't get an exit / bulhead you have some reasonable seats. leaving it to the airport may result in dissapointment.

If your booking number ends /WXX or /SXX, that'll be the internal Virgin Holidays reference (in your case /Winter2009)

You'll need your PNR from Virgin Holidays - which you generally have to phone them up and ask for.
