not sure if this has already been posted but I doubt it as it was only announced this morning. Virgin are to open their own 250 seat call centre facility in Swansea for Customer Service calls. Sales calls will continue to be handled in Crawley.

TCD was based in Swansea- looks like VS are trying to give something back to all those that were dropped when the original TCD went under. This is good news for Swansea and for customers as I know the indian call centre was at the top of a lot of peoples fustrations with VS.

Wonder if this will apply to Virgin holidays as well or just VS?

I spoke to two different departments today at VH via one phone call (new bookings and service bookings) and both where not off-shore call centers.

I called using the FVC priority number. Even though once again that number dumped me at the main VH switchboard after a couple of minutes, both the calls where handled and dealt with very professionally clearly by staff based in the UK y)

Let's also not forget VH closed down their Manchester call center a few years ago too.

Big thumbs up for that. Good news for VS pax, and even better news for UK workers.

had major problems with the indian call centre a couple of weeks ago (not for the first time) when I complained to a CSS at Crawley and told him they must be costing VS business he replied' i understand but cannot comment'. maybe he knew what was coming !!

The Beeb news article says that the centre will handle customer services AND sales. Does this in turn mean job losses in Crawley? Additionally, the commitment is to 85 jobs with others in local supply services, not quite the hundreds.

If the premier service team are moving from Crawley to Swansea then I foresee transitional problems. I can't imagine the VIP and PAMS teams will, wonder also about the FlyingCo staff.

I alwasy found it strange that every time I called VS whne in the USA that I got a Brittish opperator but every call from the UK routed to India!

I can't do the complicated quoting of other peoples comments but the article relates to TWO companies and some people are getting the numbers mixed up.

VS will create 200+ jobs over two years.

The other 85 jobs which people have mentioned are for Swansea Drydocks which are nothing to do with VS.

Still good news for Swansea !

Great news for Swansea y) .200 jobs will be a real boost for the local population There's been a real investment in the city re-development n the past few years ,and the added attraction of WAG monies has made the city attractive to businesses re-locating or expanding (eg Amazon and now VS).
