Hotel loyalty memberships

I have been recently booking all my hotel stays for my holidays later this year, i have been using hotelconnect thru the virgin e-shop area and have built up a very healthy miles balance from doing so. I also have joined SPG, wyndham fairmonts loyalty programs, but how do i get points credited into the respective programs if i havent booked direct thru their own websites :?

Any ideas?

cheers

Alex

The short answer for many hotel chains is that you don't. Often bookings through third party sites that offer good rates fall into a category of reservation the hotel chains deem ineligble for points. All in the small print - I know SPG is one such. A bit like getting no FF miles on the lowest fares with some airlines ...

Yep, although extras at the hotel (such as wifi, meals etc) all earn points - just hand over your card when you get to the hotel (at least that is my experience with SPG).

O well thanks slinky i guess 8 points to £1 works out much better anyway than what the hotels offer in terms of value on redemption.
I have a Hilton visa and actually find that this card works really well for points acrual as i use this when i cant use my VS amex, just wish SPG had a card instead as quite often Hiltons can be crappy ala coventry hilton which i have to use often and absolutely hate.

cheers

SPG has an Amex (US only I think) but that wouldn't help you given conflict w/VS card.

There are very few SPG properties in the UK - mostly London and Scotland so it wouldn't help.
