Join Virgin Flying Club Gold & get 5,000 bonus miles

just found this offer whilst surfing for ways to get some bonus miles: link

" For a limited time only Virgin Atlantic is giving 5,000 bonus miles when you join Flying Club Gold and book your first Upper Class return flight. You will automatically earn 2,500 miles on your outbound flight, and a further 2,500 miles if your return flight is taken on Virgin Atlantic too.

The only condition is you must be an existing ‘elite’ status member of another frequent flyer programme and you must book a Virgin Atlantic Upper Class flight (J,D or R booking classes) between 1 March and 31 April 2010 for outbound travel until 31 May 2010."

Hope it's of use to someone, sounds like a good deal if it's real.

Seems to be a real deal, although not sure why Virgin are offering it.

Direct link seems to still take you to the reg page. Don't know if that's still working though (anybody care to try?)

Yes. I believe it is truly dead. Tried and succeeded earlier for a family member however.. Am about to hit the heights of Silver myself so instead of risking being reset and loosing TP's I resisted the offer ii)

Tried it with my mum's red account, nothing to lose as she probably won't fly again for a year or so anyway.

Definitely dead I'm afraid. Now just states 'thank you for registering for this offer' which I presume it what it should have done originally.

Apparently it hit lots of US travel blogs yesterday, thousands of people registered.

Sounds a big f'up on VS's part. Someone in Crawley hasn't realised that the world has moved on and viral information on the Web spreads fast ...

Question is now, How many will actually qualify as already being "Elite" and booking a R, D or J?

A quick test booking for a R at the end of May Friday-Monday to JFK comes out at £2700+.
