What can i do to amuse my 9year old sister at LGW for4 hrs

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to this site and i need some advice.

We are travelling on VS029 (Barbados) this summer and well we leave LGW at(bound for BGI 10.00) and because we live in Buckinghamshire we are leaving home VERY early to avoid any traffic, we should arrive around about 6am but that will leave plenty of time to just get bored and whiny...

Is there anything we can do to while away the time??? :)

Firstly, welcome to V-Flyer, pomme d'or. I'm sure you'll find it both fun and informative.

Now, I'm assuming here that you're not flying Upper Class, 'cause if you are the answer is very easy: Clubhouse. If you're further down t'back of t'bus, I shouldn't worry too much about killing 4 hours. Check-in/bag-drop and security will probably eat at least an hour of that up, and you'll be able to head for the gate around an hour before departure, so you've only really got two hours to worry about.

So I'd suggest breakfast somewhere like Frankie and Bennys' and a bit of retail therapy in the duty free shops. Hope this helps, and have a great flight/holiday.

Thanks mdvipond!!.... yes, i'm rather frugal and have chosen "further down t'back of t'bus" as you say (i love that phrase). And oh my i hate those blasted check in queues... but if it saves me from staring back at some rather bored brown eyes whilsy listening to "i'm bored i'm bored" over and over i guess i can put up with

do online check in day before that will save some queing.

you could also look at getting a deal at one of the hotels, stay the night doing twilight check in then chill till nearer departure time

Might be worth staying landside for a bit longer and using the monorail a couple of times just for the heck of it.

Nintendo DS, a game of chess, or a hearty debate with Virgin customer services on why your sister doesn't qualify for airmiles.. :o)

I'm sure excitement will be kicking in, so wouldn't worry too much..

Welcome to V-Flyer, and hope the trip goes well.. y)

The Monorail is currently under refurbishment at the moment and is scheduled to be back up and running in May.

As others have said, the Duty Free area and a bit of nosh in somewhere like Frankie & Bennys will certainly pass the time

Oh joy. Wasn't aware of that. What are they doing as an alternative (personally I'm hoping for a bath chair)?

Buses. Oh happy day. My favourite form of transport, especially with six cases and a four year old in tow.
