The CPT route is seasonal and has now finished operating for the winter - it restarts again on 31 October later this year.

Ah ok thanks for that. I'm planning a trip LHR->JNB then JNB->CPT and finally CPT->LHR
I assume the Johannesberg route runs all year round. Do Virgin codeshare the CPT route out of season?
Keen to get some tier points for this trip if poss

That's good - thanks for confirming. Do you know if they code share (with SAA?) when out of season?

Yes, they codeshare with SAA. If you do a dummy booking on the VS website to Cape Town it will show the option of a VS numbered flight on SAA metal direct to/from CPT as well as to JNB with an onward connection

FYI - BA fly to CPT all year round so it might work out cheaper to use them.

Yup I had the travel team at work check out BA - hwoever they have limited availability ont he CPT to LHR route on the day we need to travel, and then only Economy is available. So we've decided to stick with Virgin but travel to/from JNB both hops.
They told me they are still filling seats from people stranded due to the vocanic ash, so seats are at a premium still.
