So, I have to organise a long weekend away, and need to travel PE to get my Au status back.

Where would you suggest, that gives the best destination for the price/distance etc. but gets me the 6 points I need for Au back? I want to go in the next 2-3 months, and it can't be more than a long weekend.

Thanks!!!

There is always the popular long weekend in NYC with Boston and Washington DC as alternatives but Dubai is also becoming popular too for a not so different flight time length

If its in the next 2-3 months there might a smaller chance of disruption if you go to Dubai

NYC could work out expensive, given the premium on accommodation, over other East coast destinations, unless you can pull some favours with hotel points, and as the good Dr suggests current climate east bound probably a better bet, if your return is critical..
BA strikes and school hols, will narrow your search down however..

I'd probably say DXB - short flight time, good weather and usually inexpensive. Otherwise BOS or IAD. As others have said, NYC can be very expensive for hotels unless you want to stay outside of Manhattan?

I'm off to DXB on Monday and I am surprised by how cheap some of the restaurants seem to be coming in at so I think once you are there you can enjoy yourself without breaking the bank.
There are also quite a few hotels that are not at all as full as they should be so if you hunt around you should be able to pick up 5* for 3* price. I will let you know how it went when I'm back on Friday.

Couldnt have said it better myself cheapish flights almost always G,s available, and once your there as eejp says you can get a really decent 5 star hotel at a surprisingly good rate, weather is almost guaranteed too. So for me this would win hands down instead the next best shortest flight which is NYC.

cheers

Hi guys - thanks especially for the inputs re Dubai; at this point somewhere I know virtually nothing about as a destination.

I'd be particularly interested in where you're looking to find bargain Dubai hotel prices? Also, what is there to do/see for a trip of a few days.

Thanks,

Viz.

Where to book hotels eh?! Try having a search in Travelzoo or the lastminute secret hotel is often a good bet. You can usually narrow down what hotel to a couple of options.
