SEQ1

I had never heard of, or noticed the SEQ number on a boarding card before I joined this excellent community a few weeks ago.

Checked in online for my VS900 flight to Narita tomorrow and there I was bang on 24 hours before to try and secure the SEQ1.

Which I did!

And no idea why I wanted too!

I blame all of you for introducing yet another pointless game in my life....!!

Trip report will be coming up when I've arrived in Tokyo.

A friend of mine is flying on VS250 to Shanghai tonight. He checked in almost 24 hours in advance and got SEQ 2. He was also upgraded from PE to Upper Class (lucky devil).

My question is - do you think it helps to be a low SEQ number when they are handing out upgrades or is it more to do with ticket type and FC status? (And of course the degree of over-booking).

Any thoughts welcome.

Way to go Rich1664; but apart from a warm feeling of satisfaction,I don't think holding seq1 will confer any other benefit.

Rick es there is a little fisson of pleasure of being SEQ1 and such things were unknown to me until I joined this site but are now part of the trip process.

Martin - it is more to do with FC status and ticket types than having a low SEQ when it comes to op-ups but the benefit is that the people to be denied boarding on an oversold flight (and if tere are no volunteers) are more likely to have checked in towards the end rather than the begining of the process.

As it's a work trip, I'm luckily already flying Upper Class, so don't think there is anywhere left to go!

(Unless they'll let me have a go at flying the plane.....)

It was more to do with joining in the game of trying to get the SEQ1 than anything else. My wife thought I'd gone completely bonkers this time.....

It will have no impact at all. FC status, lone travellers, ticket type will determine any op-ups, but ONLY when it suits the airline to do so.

Ah SEQ1, the whole thing is both worthless and pointless ): ):

However!

Nothing is more frustrating than to get SEQ2 - damn it - not that I would know, of course. ;) ;)

PS I must get out more.

Thanks Lizz. So I don't have to bother with chasing low SEQs. I fly frequently, usually alone on business, am FC Gold, but rarely get upgraded. So it must be the cheap N, X, Q and K class fares, my company travel team buys me :(!

How I concur. I did OLCI exactly at T-24 recently and only scored SEQ3 :#

I really need to get out more too! :o)
