Hi
I have booked 2 reward flights from Gatwick to Orlando 28th Aug in Premium (using miles) and back from New York in Economy (again reward flights) (I have almost no miles left)
The trip is to get married in Florida (we met 7 years ago on a Virgin flight

, so it had to be Virgin Flights !
Does anyone know if its possible to do a last minute upgrade to Upper Class (even at the airport on day on travel). I would love to suprise my other half as she has never ever managed to travel Upper Class. An idea of cost would be appreciated if possible. If not possible (or too expensive :0 ) is it possible to take her into the Virgin Club House (Gatwick)
thanks in advance for this
Tony

You might be able to do one if you on-line check in or at the airport. The problem will be availability as August is a busy time and the LGW aircraft only have 14 UC seats.
On the plus side, a quick load check on the VS15 and VS27 does show availability. If you go The Toolbox > Schedules and select your flight from the drop-down list, you can keep an eye on the loads in Upper (J D R & Z classes).
Best of luck.

Don't know if you can do a cash upgrade on a reward ticket, but someone will confirm. We have tried in the past to do a one way upgrade at the ticket desk before checking in and were quoted horrendous prices (think somewhere in the region of £1000pp but was a little while ago, so could be different)
Of course, as Darren has said, at the airport, anything could happen.
Good luck y)

In your position, I'd be checking for G class seats daily or more. If two become available I'd ring FC to reserve them immediately and buy the necessary miles in order to do it.
If I'm understanding your post correctly, you'd need 25K at a total cost of £390.

Have you thought about contacting Richard Branson's office - if you met on a Virgin flight it might be something that they like and they may look after you. Were you passengers or crew?

Thanks for all the replies, in answer to last one. we were just passengers that got talking - strange what a 12 hour flight can lead to (when the in flight entertainment stops working). what is the contact for richard's office. this is a great idea thanks

In my experience it's been cheaper to upgrade before the day of.
