V-Flyer

I see for much of the past week VS have substituted A346's for the usual 747's on the VS 45/46 LHR-JFK route.

I wonder if this route is reducing in popularity and now doesn't need the 747's?

Mind you I see they have been at least one 747 down as G-VROC Mustang Sally seems to have been out of action for a while. Routine maintenance?

I am returning from a weekend in NYC in September on VS46 and hoping for a 747 as the person I am travelling with has never been on one.

The seat plan for this flight on the website shows it as being a 747-400 but I guess it's too soon to know if they plan substitutions in the first week of September yet.

You will see from this thread here that Mustang Sally not only had routine maintenance but also had a paint job |:)

More than likely. The 45 was operated by a 744 today.

i'm on VS1/2 to Newark in a couple of weeks & the seat plan for that route is showing as a 747-400. I seem to remember that route being an A346 on previous trips so maybe they've switched?

I'm on VS3 then VS2 (in to JFK out of Newark) next week (as I keep blethering on about in another thread) and both seat plans are showing the A340.

Is there a chance it might change to a 747?

Last year I was on the VS1 in early September and it was a 747 but reverted back to a 346 for the winter.

It's a 346 for me when I go on the VS1 in a month's time

my mistake, the VS1/2 Newark trip is a 346. I was getting mixed up with next week's VS11/12 Boston trip which is 747

The VS3 will always be a 340.

The VS1 and VS11 tend to change aircraft types the most out of all the VS routes so just keep an eye on your booking and seating plan for the current planned aircraft type.

I suspect it will be a A333 at some point.

Also seems that the VS17/18 is going back to a A346 next year, so maybe the 343s are being transitioned out sooner rather than later - or being kept for a new Africa route.
