Just had an email from FC stating that VX are now part of the FC family and you can earn FC miles and TP's on them, at last !

(maybe the recent VFlyer poll had something to do with it )

I have just received an email from the FC announcing that VX has joined the FC.

Miles earning

Main Cabin - 50% of miles flown
Main Cabin Refundable - 100% of miles flown
Main Cabin Select Instant Upgrade* - 100% of miles flown
Main Cabin Select - 100% of miles flown
First Class - 150% of miles flown

I can't find anything that shows the tier points earning yet.

They way I read it is that bit seems to be referring to the V Australia agreement rather than the new agreement with Virgin America?

Interesting, as an FC Gold, a top tier flier in addition, a Flying Company administrator, an Elevate member, I haven't had any communication ... I wonder sometimes how VS reaches out to people.

All the same, this is superb and long overdue news.

Chumba, thank you for posting. I too wonder about status recognition, but don't forget, Elevate doesn't yet have any tiers of membership. Great to see my next VX transcons in First will get some decent miles and TPs. That said, there's still a benefit to collecting VX Elevate miles since one or two transcons in First gets a flight say SFO-LAS.

Pity it's not retrospective and I could claim miles and TPs for my LAS-SFO leg in June

I see on Elevate you can buy, gift or share your points

Just had an email from VX here as well.

You can now earn Elevate miles on VS flights from today too.

I took this from the Boarding Area blog, seems all is not quite nice and rosy:

- VX members can earn points but cannot redeem on DJ/VA flights (excluding Pacific Blue and Polynesia Blue flights) - apparently this is happening later this year
- VX members can now earn points but cannot redeem on VS flights.
- DJ/VA members can earn points, earn status credits and redeem on VS flights.
- DJ/VA members can now earn points but cannot redeem on VX flights.
- VS members can earn miles (but not tier points) and can redeem on DJ/VA flights (excluding Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue flights).
- VS members can now earn miles and tier points but cannot redeem on VX flights.

Some way to go then before this is an effective alliance FF scheme!

Now there is an interline agreement in place between VS and VX, would they do this if on separate PNRs? (I'm just trying to be lazy when flying SEA-SFO-LHR).
