Thanks Ed. y) 8D
Is it too early to plan 2011 trips, when we still have three to do this year?

It is
never to early to plan a holiday, I am already planning number 2 and 3 for next year.

It may be a bit ba humbug of me, OK MIA at end September has come down from £2418 earlier to £1998, which is great, but not the greatest of sales ... perhaps we won't see the like ever again when a sale UC to New York was £1068 which I managed less than a year ago ...
We must be thankful however ...

I can't find any UC sale fares for Orlando or Miami in Jan to Feb. Do you think they are yet to be loaded? Ever hopeful.

The prices just don't seem as good as they used to be. Defecting to BA and MFU'ing with miles from WTP to CW seems much better value nowadays, especially now that you can pay for the upper deck seats!

That is a good point - it is a major differentiating factor between the two airlines. The classes that you can MFU certainly make BA a more attractive proposition than VS - and don't get me started on credit card companion tickets.

A former very loyal VS flier and great V-Flyer is currently enjoying BA F with his OH courtesy of a BA Amex 2-4-1 voucher.

The PE fares to IAD seem reasonable for around next Easter - we need to sort out how to visit the Less Favoured One in Knoxville and IAD would work (and would allow us a few days in DC)..
Edited to add: "around next Easter" means "up to but not including school holidays". B*gger. Were it not for the need to rely on MrsPJHs pension for my dotage, she'd have to be giving up her current gig to allow us to fly in the standard to which we've accustomed.

Have the fares been loaded yet? I can only see the UC sale to India and Economy fares to Sydney, Barbados and South Africa (which ends today)

HL, you have to go through the booking process itself - I can see sale fares for MIA among others.

At last I've seen something that resembles a fare sale but as has been said, they're not the greatest and ones for next year are impeded by the rise in APD

I know !
Was looking for NYC and £1.92k for midweek to midweek (I usually travel Thurs - Wed) but £ 1.65k for a sat/sat trip.
For IAD its £ 1.82k.
Don't think thats good value. Will be shopping around !

I got a very reasonable fare for LCY-NYC though I have to start the trip in CPH for that, but that's the day before, so it won't be a mad rush to transfer.

Not the sale I was hoping for! LAX in UC OB 22/12/2010 IB 12/01/2011 is down from £2915 to £2198 - I was hoping for some thing around £1700, certainly sub £2000 so thumbs down from me.

Do you think this is it as far as VA go?
There isn't a sale on the Manchester to Orlando UC flights - they are almost £2000. BA have them(with connections) for £1768. Obviously we would prefer to go from Manchester.
I can just see us booking with BA, and then VA having an UC sale!! I guess that is how it goes.

I can see a £1.6k UC return fare to NYC for roughly the dates I need in Oct/Nov.
Best fire of an email to the travel department at work to get it secured and keep the bean counters happy....

Not hugely impressed with the "special" price to Sydney in PE around easter next year - Its looking like I will end up with Qantas on the 380 as the non-sale fare is about the same; that will be 18 months without me going anywhere on Virgin metal.

The sale fares are now being pushed on the
VS website.£644 to Boston in PE early next year - this compares to sale fares of just over £500 in previous years.

AA have some excellent Business class prices. Has anyone travelled with them?

Thanks for the tip - I just looked and AA First to Miami for one of my forthcoming trips is £500 cheaper that the VS UC sale fare.
?|
Now that's an option ... back to the question, AA biz is second rate compared to VS UC, AA First has a lot going for it however, albeit that they serve pre-take-off champagne in plastic glasses (I mean, really :0 ).
But, at least with AA you get a flat bed, new AVOD, decent meals - these being the pluses, almost everything else compares badly if UC is your reference point!

Thanks for that. What I expected I suppose.
Thinking cap on.
