Came back on her today from miami in UCs there were five in our group, half the in flight entertainment screens didn't work. They were reloaded a few times but still were problematic thru the journey. I felt sorry for the cabin crew who were very helpful, they suggested that I complain and that I would get air miles but that hardly helps when you have three kids to entertain!
I do Mia lhr at least seven times a year with my family and only choose virgin because of the in flight entertainment!
Edit to thread title by mod for clarity..... Nick

These things do happen from time to time, and at 30,000ft there really isn't much the crew can do to fix it if resetting doesn't work. Everything breaks at some point, there is no guarantee that it will always work and the fact you do 7 flights a year and haven't had this problem before would show it is rare that a total failure happens.
You should complain to Virgin, but you will only get miles in the way of compensation. I'm not sure what you would think is acceptable and certainly Virgin have no legal duty to offer any compensation, as a working IFE isn't part of any contract between you and Virgin.

noted and i agree and i certainly dont expect the cabin crew do do anything othr than what they did, but 3 of the 5 of our ife systems werent working, not great formfor their premium product.
the laternative is ba club class which frankly isnt much better, both airlines use old 74's for this route at the moment so i doubt any chnce of any improvement in the near future.

I flew G-VHOT MIA-LHR on 24th aug and also encountered the same problem with the IFE. Half the screens not displaying anything, then a few flicking on, then soon off again. As far as I could see it mainly effected the A side compared to K in the A-zone.
Thankfully the crew managed to get it to work half way through dinner (wasn't paying attention to the time, so don't know exactly how long it took), slightly annoying as I was looking forward to the miles and making do with my phone.
Was interesting to see the manual safety demonstration.
I find it odd how Virgin obviously haven't fixed a problem that must of been known about?
