Upper Class Seats

Morning all, I'm now in the single digit countdown to LGW to BGI ^) ^)
Still can't make my mind up where to sit. According to my flying club login plane should be 747 with the new upper class/ economy layout in the bubble. On historic timetable should be Lady Penelope. ?|
All suggestions gratefully received and considered. At mo have my name on 16A and 17A on way out and 15K and 16K on return leg.

They sound about right to me, both are in the A Zone on the 747, which is spacious, quiet and still close enough to the bar.

Thanks for that Neil, I shall stay where I am then.
Don't suppose you have any idea on the food menu? Think I saw something on a trip report about some lamb, but not sure when the summer/winter menu change kicks in.

New menu should be out tomorrow, but it isn't known yet, hopefully someone will let us have it as soon as they can.

Hi Apple
Dont even think of changing your seats, IMHO that front section
on a VS 747 is about as good as it gets.
Have a great flight

Seconded. It's a wee bit noisier than UC on an A346 - and you're certainly aware the nose wheel is below when taking off / landing - but the space and privacy it affords added a great deal to our recent trip to SFO.
Have a great time.

Thanks Paul, will do. Never done UC on 747, I always seem to be on an A340, which I just luv.
Was just reading your latest great trip report, glad you had a fab time.

Thirded about not changing your seats and the new menu should definitely be there when you travel

Thanks honeylamb, it's unanimous, I shall stay put, assuming that I am not moved for the ubiquitous "operational reasons"
Will post the new menu as soon as I can after consuming it

Hey Apple
Once I've done a flight with the new menu, I'll be able to post it for all to see. Hopefully I'll get to see what there is to offer for you all in the next few days!

Thanks Tinkerbelle, much appreciated
It will be good to know so as I can make a decision on how much breakfast to consume in the clubhouse.

What? You mean you don't have to eat and drink everything in sight?
Oh well...

Hi Apple
Well spotted, it certainly is a Bardabos beach in my profile shot, it is Turtle Bay which is beautiful.
Best night out IMHO on a visit to my favourite island is Lexy's Piano Bar in Holetown. If you havent tried it it will be well worth a go.
Hoping to get back to BGI later this year.
Have a graet trip.

I have just upgraded my PE return flight from BGI next March to UC as a surprise for my partner's (significant!) birthday. Looking at available seats the VS map is showing a different config compared with the above discussion and only showing seat rows 6 - 12 on the map. I have chosen 9 and 10K but would invite comments and advice as to their degree of 'niceness'!!

This suggests that this is one of the Gatwick 747 Fleet you will be flying on. Thus only 14 UC seats - which gives a degree of exclusivity :w - two seats at the bar that faces onto the Cabin (tend to find not many people use it as a consequence) but no V-Port :#
9 & 10 are as good as they get- further back and you have the bar to contend with, further forward you loose the overhead lockers.
Enjoy the flight

True, but if you're not carrying much onto the flight the lack of overhead space can be overcome by using the space under the ottoman. On both our UC trips my "man bag" and MrsPJH's current handbag configuration fitted there without a problem.

Or, if you are in the front 2 seats, the little shelf at the front is an excellent place to store things during the flight.
Oh, and Man Bag? How very metrosexual

Eating everything in sight, Darren is a lovely idea, but would not like to subject all the sun seekers on the beach to the sight of a beached whale.
Oh and boys glad to hear that some of you are carrying around "man bags", a much classier look, than cramming all your worldly flying necessities in to your pockets and the omnipresent WH Smith carrier bag. Mind you more room for my Mulberry (that's a bag designer for the less bag minded men) in the overheads so maybe I shouldn't encourage it
And old boy, thanks for the tip, I shall take a stroll down to Lexy's. Just can't wait to arrive back in Barbados.

I've heard Mulberry bags now come with a special space for gar latest WAG biography, thus making the pop up storage redundant in UC

I travel with a satchel for the ultimate geek look ... I find it stops people talking to me.

wag bio, mandatory bag content, together with lip gloss and a big bag of revels....just luv not knowing what I'm gonna get next ii)
As for the satchel, nowt wrong with the geek look, but not wanting people to talk to you...hmmm much better to sit at the bar and have a chat... never know who you might meet
