Pre Bookable seats / load factor- VS 015 - 30/03/2011 - help

Hi All

New to this great forum - hoping for help.

Travel dates:
Wednesday 30th March Gatwick Orlando VS15
Thursday 14th April Miami Heathrow VS6

Tried to prebook seats today online and no prebookbale seating was available.
Phoned up a call centre in India and rather unhelpful man said seats are only available at online checkin as a policy for all flights now!

Any ideas? What the Load factor like?
Have 65% seats already gone, hence not available now?
I think it’s a B747 but it’s not affected by the A330 intro?

Much Appreciated

Welcome to V-Flyer.

Both flights look reasonably open, except for the cheapest buckets in Economy - see below.
Who did you book your flights through? If it was through a travel agent, you should be able to get your VS locator through them. It is a long time since I booked with anyone other than VS, so others are wiser on this subject than me.

thanks Nick for your reply.

I have booked with virgin holidays, and I have the airline booking ref which allows me to choose meals, etc
But seat availablity is not available.

Was told this morning seats will only be allocated at online checkin as Virgin has changed its policy by a Customer Service Agent and 60% seats already taken! Who was clueless and no help at all.

cheers

Welcome from me also.

It does sound like it is just down to the 60% rule (which is a long standing rule VS have in place). You are flying at a very popular to for MCO/MIA as it is right around the Easter period, but then saying that, from the load check info Nick has provided there are still a lot of seats available, so that does make me wonder.

The problem you have now is that once you have booked through Virgin Holidays all the after sales calls are dealt with by India, and they aren't the best at times.

I would maybe give it a few days and then check back again, and maybe even try giving VS direct a call. They *might* be able to just access the seat map and see if that is the case, but with it being a VH booking the chances are they might not be able to help.
