Pre booking your seats

Virgin say that you can pre book the seats you'd like on their flights: "A limited number of seats are available from 336 days to 24 hours before departure."

Today is 335 days before i fly...lol long time away =P however it wont let me pre book anything, the Virgin Atlantic site cant even find my booking details =\
"Sorry, we are unable to locate your details. Please check you have entered them correctly and try again."

I suppose im being a bit too quick with it, considering the flight isnt until next summer =( although my parents had a similar problem this summer, they couldnt pre allocate their seats for about 3 weeks after the 336 days, and by that time most had been taken! Dont want this to happen to me, im a bit of a panic person and need everything to be how i like it =P

Anyone else had trouble getting pre allocated seating?

Who have you booked your flight with? It is possible the e-ticket hasn't been issued yet, in which case you won't be able to select seats until it has been.

It can take up to 24 hours for your booking to be fully integrated with the Virgin site.
If you call VHols they will be able to do it. I have just done a dummybooking for 11th August and I can choose seats so I think yes, patience is needed!

Not sure where you are flying to, but if you are flying to MCO then you might not be able to select your seats yet anyway. If your flight is on the new A333 then it will be November at the earliest before you can select your seats as the new seat maps aren't ready for preselection yet.

If you aren't flying to MCO then the above will be of no relevance to you.

Thanks HWVlover but even when i in put my date and flight number it still cant find my details! =( i guess its just a bit too early for Virgin Atlantic to have my info.

And yeah im flying to MCO from MAN. It did cross my mind that it may take a while to choose seating due to the new planes, i did see a plan on the VS site but not sure if its final..theres a big space between PE and Economy seats which seems a little weird =P

It will depend on which flight you are on. Only 2 flights a day out the 3(or 4 on certain days) that go to MCO from MAN/LGW are going to be on the new a/c. If your flight Is still on the 747 then you will be able to select hour seats, once Virgin have your details of course.

Well it will be the new a/c for your flight then, as they are operating the VS75/76 from 2nd April.

The new a/c are A333's which are smaller than the 747's and only have 2 engines and don't have any UC on them. They are not the super jumbo A380.

The flight time is the same.

The new a/c will have the new purple leather seats and a new IFE so the product should be better than that on the 747's

I have had this issue a few times and it is because when I have booked a holiday through VH and then at a later date upgraded the flights.

When you make a flight change with VH, as I understand, it gets passed through to VA flight contracts and it is there that they need to associate your flight locator number with the changes to the VH booking.

I was told by VH a couple of days ago that when someone upgrades the flights, they need to cancel everything off and re-book, its more of a paperwork shuffle behind the scenes.

The best and quickest way I have found is to call VH and get them to manually go through to VA and get flight contracts to associate the changes with the booking, it still takes around 24 hours though :)
