San Fran expert advice

Morning all.

After much debating my traveling companion and I have finally booked flights into SFO for our annual Vegas tour...

We will be flying in on the VS19 which is schedule to land at 14:15 and are now looking at booking onward flights to Vegas on Virgin America (of course!). I have 3 questions;

A) How long is the transfer time from VS to VX typically? We'll be flying upper so should be off the VS19 pretty quickly and through immigration, and we're looking at getting the 16:00 VX flight leaving 1:45 to transit.

B) Can you check bags through from Heathrow to Vegas across both carriers?

C) If flying upper into San Fran and VX economy out, can you use the clubhouse? (assuming there's time to faff about getting landside)

Many thanks in advance for you're help!

Liam

Good choice.

A. VX are in the International Terminal so you don't have far to go.

B. No. Flying into the the US, you must collect your bags after immigration, clear US customs then check-in.

The SFO Clubhouse is only open to VX First passengers, Main Cabin Select and Elevate members and then for a fee of $35. Time-wise, it will depend on the queues in the Immigration hall.

Hi Liam

I did that connection; VS to SFO then onto a VX flight about a year ago, and as Darren says, the SFO clubhouse is theoretically only open to VX First pax. I was offered the $35 pay your way in option by VX at their check-in, which I declined. I went up to the CH and showed them my FC Gold card and explained my situation VS -> VX but the elderlay lady on the desk said no.

Not being one to back down, I persisted in the nicest possible way and the lady said:
"Don't I recognise you?"
To which I replied: "Yes, I'm sure you do"
(I had never seen her before in my life!)
And she said: "In you go, but don't tell anyone"

[So you never heard it from me v( ]

It sounds like you met the fabulous (and now retired ) Claire (a v-flyer legend as it happens) who came up trumps for you :) . I'm not sure she'd be that thrilled to be described as "elderly" though ): .

Thanks DL, I didn't know she was a legend :D .

And ooops and I misspelt it "elder-lay" how inappropriate!

Anyway, if you are reading this: "Thank you Claire, your kindness and consideration was much appreciated" y)

Cheers

LiamRugby - if you don't get into the lounge, then check out the museum - they have some interesting stuff in there, and very knowledgeable staff.

And remember my advice for immigration - stay in the right lanes, that way when they open the US citizen lanes to all comers you can get through quickly.
