Hi

Does anyone know where the extra legroom seats are located in economy on 747 config 1 (VS075) 23rd sept.

Also we have been allocated 62 A and C. Does anyone have experience of these seats please.

Many Thanks in advance

They vary on each a/c, so without knowing the exact a/c it is hard to say.

If it's possible for whoever you are travelling with, I ask you to consider exit seats first. I've never personally experienced these 'extra legroom seats' but I know they are nothing special, and the extra bit of cash to really strech out is definitely worth it in my opinion.

That is a bit of a debating point. Whilst I agree with you, Lizz - there are those that disagree, especially those with more generous derrieres. :| B) The exit row seats are apparently noticeably narrower and can cause discomfort.

There have been mixed reviews of the extra leg room seats. Whilst the difference isn't massive, a lot of people think and inch or two makes all the difference to their comfort, ;)

Ok, fair enough. But as someone with long legs and small enough hips to still have plenty of room I prefer them!
I remember I used to drum into whoever wanted them that it was only 3 inches extra because when your average passenger hears 'extra leg room' they seem to assume they'd be able to strech out completely. Also, just in case you may think so, in no way am I implying that the op is an 'average passenger'!

I must say I disagree with you Lizz. Whilst I haven't taken a flight in the extra leg room seats, when we were flying to MCO last February (we were in UC) and the flight was empty (only 39 pax in Y) I had a long chat with the CC about them about a sit in one to see the difference and although they don't look much, they do give substantially more room than a standard Y seat and for £30 I would say they are a bargain.

I to would probably prefer the exit row seat, but for more than half the price, these are good value for money IMO, especially for the taller/larger pax.

I did 3 legs of a LHR-SYD round trip in the extra leg room seats on an A340-600 and the difference compared to the standard seat I had on the final leg was huge. I'm 6' and I could fully extend my legs under the seat in front without my knees touching the back of the seat whereas with the standard seat, I had to have my legs at funny angles to avoid hitting anything.

For £30/$50, and if you can't get an exit row seat, the extra leg room seats are definitely worth the money.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the only 'extra legroom seats' in economy on the A340 were the exit rows?

Also, in response to the original question about 62 A&C, my personal preference is always to sit as far forward as possible, particularly when travelling to the USA because:
a) off the aircraft quickly which means you're not behind passengers off your own aircraft and should be through immigration quicker.
b) sitting nearer to the aircraft's centre of gravity (over the wings) means you generally get a smoother ride, and less pronounced movement during turbulence.
c) sitting at the rear of the 747, behind the engines is far more noisy (engine noise) than at the front of the economy cabin.

I could imagine that, I remember sitting in a standard Y seat and I could touch the seat with my knees in front, and I'm only 5"9!
I think it comes down to the fact that I don't like having anything in front of me, however much room there is or not.

The extra leg room economy seats on the A340-600 are different from the exit row seats. I got those on a fligh from Newark to London earlier this year and the difference was definitely worth the $50/£30

Is there a list somewhere of which seats are the extra legroom seats on the 346's and 343's? Would be useful at add to the seat ratings chart if possible. Thanks.
