sorry, but as they say in the US:

"The coldest winter I ever had was summer in San Francisco"

...but they never lived in Blighty!
good luck to you.

But then Mark Twain was given to exaggerating... ;)

You'll miss here. Proper tea bags, marmite, crusty doorstep bread slices, no hurricanes :p

Did the SF one way trip 10 years ago. Depends where in the Bay area you stay. Go literally 10 mins north into Marin and it can be 20 degrees warmer!!

No Hurticanes out this way, just little trembles ;)

thanks Buns ours has been in the planning for 9 years. once we applied it has taken about 3 months.

I cant wait till someone asks us 'have you got a return ticket' and we can reply -dont need one !!

Sadly I never got asked about the return ticket - but perhaps they spotted I do actually have a flight back in November already...

Out of interest - what Visa did you get? I'm on an H-1B with a vague plan to apply for a Green Card soon.

That's a lot easier - with a half decent lawyer you should be all set in a few months, and you won't have to endure the purgatory of years of waiting that can be the GC process :)

Go literally 10 mins north into Marin and it can be 20 degrees warmer!!

That's what makes it such an amazing wine growing area - such a range of climates in a small geographic area - whites in the south (colder) and Reds in the north (Hotter)

Hmmm - I'm starting to twitch for my corkscrew...
