Anybody know how long this flight has been a GNF?

AFAIK the VS17 is not a Good Night Flight.

GNF's are the short overnight flights home from the US (VS46, 10, 2, 22, 12) and the overnight VS400 to Dubai.

The VS17 offers the normal meal service of starters, main courses and desserts. Afternoon tea is not served due to the late arrival - light bites are loaded instead.

The website states this which is what prompted me to ask. What you described is how I remember it.

The Good Night Flight service is available on the following flights:
VS010 - New York JFK to London Heathrow.
VS046 - New York JFK to London Heathrow.
VS002 - New York Newark to London Heathrow.
VS017 - London Heathrow to New York Newark.
VS022 - Washington Dulles International to London Heathrow.
VS012 - Boston International to London Heathrow.
VS400 - London Heathrow to Dubai International.
*Boston Clubhouse has a spectacular cold food offering and delicious hot soup is also available.

I think it could be a mistake on the website itself as a GNF specifically has breakfast loaded on it.

Was thinking it was a typo but it has to be an error!

Wouldn't make sense as the flight is a great chance to set your clock for US time and get a full night sleep once in NYC, after a full days/nights work.

In anycase, it is just an option and not compulsory, if it was the case of the VS017 being GNF, contrary to the snooze zone.

Sorry to ask a stupid question but what's a good night flight? Does it just mean minimal food is served? I used to get vs400 a lot and didn't realise it was unusual in the limited food service?

If you were in the snooze zone and wanted a full meal, I think you would be expected to eat at the bar

You can eat at your seat if you wish too even if your in the snooze zone.

The only problem is it will be pretty dark so youll have to use your reading light.
