We have some great TR writers here, and to add to those here's one I found while perusing Flyertalk, called 8 bottles of DOM LAX-BKK.

Sounds like BS to me. Firstly, after eight bottles this guy would most likely have been unconcious. Secondly I can't beleive the cabin crew would have kept serving him.

I think the truth has been stretched more than a little.

1.5 glasses per hour he calculates. I could do that. ;-)

Totally agree whilst i enjoyed reading it for entertainment value, the fellow would have slipped into a coma at 33,000ft and 8 bottles later.

cheers

That's three flights over a total of 26 hours, with stopovers on the ground which included a shower on the first, and a nap on the second. And, as Sealink mentioned, it's 1.5 glasses per hour of flight. With a lot of food eaten. Totally doable IMO.

FWIW, macabus is a well respected contributor to FT with a great line on Champagne. He pointed folks to Pertoise-Moriset recently, so I went over to D&M on Fillmore and picked up a bottle, absolutely spectacular wine for under 39.99+tax. It's easy to live it up with 200 dollar bottles of Dom or Krug or whatever, yet when someone can pick out a great single grower champagne at that price I have to like them. I spend a lot of time trying different ones out and appreciate informed opinion. I've got me a case of P-M for Christmas :)

Even if you think it's not doable, and I believe it is, easily, it's a very entertaining read. I loved the style of it.

There's only one thing for it.

Who wants to volunteer to do a "Mythbusters" experiment.

It's a great TR - there were some brilliant one-liners in there! :D

I still think the Eurostar PCP could do more though! ):

Sorry to get all scientific on you, but it's actually already been done, tested and put into use.

The average human male can process about 7-12 ml of alcohol (or equivalent) an hour, so this is totally doable, but really, why would you want to ?

I'd gladly have a good stab at that. I think I managed 4 bottles of fizz to myself on election night so on a long flight like that with plenty of food I think it could be easily done by somebody who's system is used to that kind of, erm, abuse :D
