Title wasn't long enough.. You can now purchase Extra Leg Room Seats and Exit Row seats - subject to availability - via the Contact Centre when booking your flight.
This is only available on certain routes at the moment, and was launched yesterday.
Routes at the moment are JFK / EWR / BOS / IAD and SFO with more added soon.
The Contact Centre only have a certain allocation of these seats - the rest are still available to purchase as normal at the airport.

Thanks for the heads up. Just tried to do this with the Premier team. Applies after Dec 1st but the IT system went belly up when she tried to do it. Waiting on a call back

Scandalous!
I just flew with BA in cattle class and was able to just check in online 24 hours before hand and select those seats!

Yes, from the Outbound team.
Now when you make a booking you can pay for those seats at the time of booking.

If you have already booked your flights through a Travel Agent does this still apply?

They can only do it for flights booked directly with VS. The bug was that I fly out BEFORE the 1st but the flight I wanted to apply it to is after the first so the system blocked it.
Edit by Scrooge: To correct spelling....Yes, it's only taken me 5 years, but at long last I caught Decker in a spelling error

Just online check-in'd and I dont appear to have an extra legroom seat. Row 41, Aisle. My preference is always window.

I just tried to do this with my flight originating flight from BOS and was told I can only pre-book an Exit Seat on the return leg (LHR-BOS), 72hrs in advance. So it seems it only applies to flights originating from LHR. Is that right?

Need to double check as I believe it is available both ways.
