Gold tier point run with Virgin America

2011 and I am back online y) . Have been off the flying radar and realised (to my dismay) have not been able to take advantage of the Gold card in anyway in 2010 B) , however this year is a whole different ball game... FINALLY got accepted for black amex with Virgin (i have had a platinum amex for years!) so will have many more VS miles to earn/burn I have holiday plans again (with Virgin Atlantic of course) and wish to continue my gold status as the upper sales are not what they used to be looks like either upgrading with miles or flying premium!

I know its 30 tier points I need and I have until May 31st 2011

My plan is to take advantage of the tier point for each flight with Virgin America. I will take a premium economy flight to America, so 24 tier points to go! Here the questions start.

If i fly VA economy Boston-Los Angeles via San Francisco does that count as one or two flights?

First Leg
Flight 351 View Seats
08:40 AM BOS Depart
12:30 PM SFO Arrive
Second Leg
Flight 928 View Seats
01:15 PM SFO Depart
02:40 PM LAX Arrive

Do I have to be in a specific fare class to earn tier points?
I know you do to earn miles/ if so how do I check the fare as VA website cant see. When I check fare rules it just shows the flight details.

Have the rules changed as I checked the website on this link and found below 2'000 miles that no tier points earned

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/fr ... /index.jsp

but on this link it specifically states Virgin America earn 1 tier point under 2'000 miles :?

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/fr ... /index.jsp

Plan is to fly between LAS/LAX/SFO afew times over a week period and earn my gold status back. Ill earn 30+ tier points flying Virgin Atlantic in 2011/2012 after that so will make gold again.

Any advice/help you can offer me in this matter would be greatly appreciated y)

Platinum Leo.

I recently flew with Virgin America from LAS-SFO return, its 2 points each way in first class, or 1 point in economy
You can get an economy return for about $120 maybe less if a sale is on

Also check the prices on the SFO-> Seattle route as these are often cheaper than the SFO->LAX segments and earn the same tier points. (This is assuming that you are just traveling for the points and not particularly for the destination)
