Premium economy exit seats & check in

Hello again I'm travelling premium economy on 14th feb to Orlando on a vport plane (I think). Ideally I would like an exit row seat in PE to give me that extra bit of room. Do the exit row seats work in the same way as economy where they are allocated at check in, and do you have to pay extra for them ?
If they are allocated at check in is it best to goto the airport to secure these seats early or can you do it by online check in.
Also if it is a vport system does the tv come out of the arm like other planes ?
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks in advance

Yes, they are allocated at check in. Sometimes they are held back, and allocated later, as happened to me on my last trip.

There was a thread some time ago when Stevieboy was charged, but I have used them twice since then without having to pay extra.

Ask for them at check in, if they don't allocate them - make sure your interest is registered.

The V-Port screens are an arm between the seats, just like the exit row seats in Y.

Didn't we find out that it was just row 28 on the LHR config that was being charged for or did I dream that :?

I seem to remember that Steve was told that, but since then I have used row 28 twice without charge. ?|

Edit - This is the previous thread.

PE Row 18 on the A346 is, in my opinion the best seat on any VS aircraft in any class. When you take into account the cost of a PE seat versus UC, comfort and space, I'd say row 18 is a winner.

Ok so I may get charged bit nasty considering the extra you pay for a PE seat but can you only get the exit seats at a check in desk ? Does everyone agree it's worth get a exit row seat or is a normal PE seat good enough ?

The thing I don't like is there's nowhere for your feet to go if you want to stretch out. Also, plenty of noise from the galley.

On the subject of PE exit row seats, a couple to avoid are row 29H and 29K on the LHR 744 configs.

It looks like they are exit row seats with lots of legroom on the average seatmap. When you get there however, you find there is a fixed bulkhead - like the central (skycot) block have - directly in front. This gives less legroom than an ordinary PE seat. I took one of these on a flight back from SFO last October and in retrospect was sad to have given up my non-bulkhead seat. :(

Arn't these seats narrower than other seats due to the table being stored in the arm rest?

All PE seats have the table stored in the arm rest anyway!

In economy though you'd be right, will be narrower than a normal seat, not in PE though!
