MPM Bargains

I know many question the value of MPM fares, but I have just stumbled upon an absolute bargain.
Looking at the grey cold skies here I want some warm sun on my back so looked at getting away for Feb Half Term.
Been looking for a few weeks and the fares are astronomical!!!!! - I thought there was a recesion on?
Anyway LHR - DXB :-
P/E £1,631
P/E MPM £445
Saving of £1,186 - now that is the best use of 7.5k miles I have ever seen. Who cares about TP's at that saving.
Trouble is .......Mrs S will not take Miss S out of school for the one day as she is in her 4th year (I still think in old money !) and has started her GCSE courses. Damn.

Amazing deal!! I'm sure some extra shopping time in DXB may sway things! Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up, we had looked to go within the next week or two but there were no reward seats and as you said the revenue seats were very expensive.
Have just got off the phone with FC and have 2 PE seats on hold till tomorrow night so i can sort out the time off from work tomorrow. £445 and 7500 miles each y) instead of £1600ish each, absolute bargain, never seen MPM seats this good value.
(I also looked at LAS for the next week or two and they have some MPM bargains too if anyone is interested)

Am sure you can change your good lady's mind.
It will afterall only be one day and Miss S won't be the only one to miss school that day.
Talk to the school about what she will miss. They may well take the view that its not a problem and if I recall by old school days not a lot got taught on the last day of 1/2 and full term !

Wow, interesting. That's good value! I've never managed to find decent value MPM tickets.
Unfortunately the biggest drawback is that no miles are earned. I just checked NYC flights and no luck; 629 down to 584 for 7500 miles for a flight in March. Plus approx 10k miles not earned its really bad value. But well done on finding these, I'll keep looking out for them.
Ah!! hang on, just tried again and a last minute LHR-JFK, leaving in a few days is down from £1600-£584. That IS good value for a last minute booking, given buying a rtn entirely with miles would cost 50k miles.
I've never really understood MPM fares but maybe their function is to give an opportunity for cut price last minute bookings. Good to know!

Just booked MPM fares to SFO in August for £1458 in UC.
That seems like a very good deal given that I don't fly VS that often and I would probably never get enough miles for full rewards. The entire month is wide open for this price by the way.

There has just been some reports by people that they have received miles and TP's on an MPM booking. They seem rare and for no particular reason, and the T&C's are clear that MPM bookings don't qualify to earn them, so don't bank on earning any.

Same for LAX. Cheapest with cash shows up at £2.9K, but with 15K miles (£255 if you have no miles) the price drops to under £1.5K.
Seems crazy

I also booked UC flights to LA in August for 1458 plus 15k miles. Had to blink and look twice at the savings made, I'd never seen MPM savings like it before. Never mind that we usually avoid travel in August, at that price, it was plainly rude not to go!
Has anyone else seen value such as this before or have I had my head in the sand???

Tontybear, you obviously haven't met Mrs S B)
I have said that if we are worried about missing one day then we possibly have more to worry about, but no - She Who Must Be Obeyed has spoken !
I will just have to look up in the sky with a tear in my eye when I am waiting for the 8:13 train to go to work

Never seen that before. Flights to JFK are still over 1600 with MPM, so amazing value these!

Indeed they were! As you rightly say, JFK fares weren't attractive, nor was Boston. Washington wasn't bad, if memory serves, but these west coast fares were just no-brainers.
