Sparkling Water

Had an amusing conversation with the FSM on a recent flight. Did anyone else know that they no longer serve sparkling water in Y? I wonder how one would go about obtaining a vodka and soda for example? Is this a new thing? Strange...

To be honest I am suprised Virgin ever offered sparkling water in Y ! as for Vodka and Soda (and I have not known many who drink that) maybe that is like a pax that wants champagne or JD (I believe) - the answer is "it is not served in economy".

TBH I dont really see any issues with this - after all Y is an economy product and if one needs/wnats more bells and whistles they could choose either W or J or indeed F on other carriers as their desire and pockets allow.

I am not sure what other carrier offeres a choice of water in Y - I would think most offer water from those awful containers and fountains one reads about rather than mineral.

Oh, my drink of choice is Grey Goose, Lime cordial and soda.

I feel I'm having alcohol, whilst rehydrating my body at the same time :o) I'm not quite sure if it works like that, but it sounds good to me!

There's actually nothing wrong with the water fountains on VS flights (apart from they are only on the 346's).

If I fly PE on a 346, I regularly go and re-fill my PE water bottle using the fountains in economy.

When was this? I was served sparkling water in economy on the way to Florida last month. I also had it in PE on the way back.

It's hardly a luxury product! You can get sparkling water all over the place these days. In fact, I often have it in place of fizzy pop which I don't like.

I didnt say sparking water was a luxury product - It is choice I was referring to however compared to tap water which is offered fountains then yes I guess it is as there is a cost involved and more for the crew to load and offer y)

Yep only loaded in J now, but if someone in W or Y requests it we just go up the front and get them a glass. I guess it's just because it wasn't requested much in economy.

Makes sense that if hardly anyone asks for it and im not surprised by that, then they may as well drop it from Y.

cheers

ask for it?

'Can I have a vodka and soda please?'

Soda water is not the same as sparkling water - made differently.

I don't believe soda is carried at all. I always get offered sparkling water instead.

Sparkling water should be offered in Premium and UPPER. It is just the main economy cabin where it is no longer on the cart. However if asked nicely, the crew will usually get you some from one of the other cabins.

Never noticed fountains before (and the 346 is my regular steed), could a kind soul advise me where they are?

The water fountains are about half way down the economy cabin between rows 46 and 51, in the middle section of the cabin on an exit row. There's two, one on either side.

Using the A346 seat plan from here, I've marked where the water fountains are with a red dot.

VS should replace fizzy water with Pol Roger 1996.

I would suggest it may be the ones where the Club cart goes down into EuroTraveller - seen this haooen may times where the only thing removed is the Champers (plus this is the beverage selection for Euro Travller and not World Traveller flights)
