Checked baggage question

Wife and I flying to Montego Bay from Gatwick tomorrow, economy.

WE are taking 2 suitcases. I know the weight limit is 23kg each.

Can we spread this across 2 cases on the one booking as long as one of them doesnt exceed 32kg - i.e. one case may be 26kg and the other 20kg.

Will I incur excess baggage if I do that?

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the forum.

The baggage allowance is a max of 23kg per case.

Completely correct, it is a individual baggage allowance, so you cannot combine any allowances with others travelling in your party.

Thanks. Looks like some friggery with rebalancing cases to be done here then.

This is interesting. So if I had a personal baggage allowance in Premium of 2 x 23Kg, could I have 1 bag at 20Kg and 1 bag at 26Kg? - Or is that a No-no?

That would be a no Peter, no single bag should exceed to 23kg.

Unless you are in UC where its 32kg per bag ...

But, as has been said, whatever cabin you are in allowances per bag are not combinable
