Can you make date changes on a reward seat in the specific case of upgrading from a top fare code, like Y or W? Does the reward ticket retain the flexibility of the original fare code? Or does the ticket just become a reward ticket and so loses all flexibility.
Thanks!

See para 4.2.1 of the T&C4.2.1 Once reward tickets are issued, you may amend your travel date, route or class of service prior to travel for an amendment fee of £25 for changes in the UK, US$50 for changes in the US or local currency equivalent of US$50 for changes in any other region. Where the reward is a companion ticket and the person travelling on the paying ticket changes his or her flight or class of travel, the companion ticket may be similarly amended for the same amendment fees, subject to availability of seats and other conditions laid down by Virgin Atlantic.

You can make date changes on a reward fare for a fee anyway.
ISTBC, but I am pretty certain the revenue fare codes rules still apply when upgraded with miles. The only thing is that is you upgraded a Y fare to a G, if you wanted to change dates there would need to be G availability on the new date still.

If you mean you are upgrading from a Y or W then you will retain the flexibility of the original code whether upgrade or not. Usually there is no date change fee on these fares either.
Is that what you mean by reward seat ?
However if the date you change to does not have upgrade available and they already deducted your miles you will probably not get them back.
