PE seats on VS query

I'm almost certainly going to get time off to go to Orlando from Manchester from 15th March until 12th April. We (two of us) usually try and get seats in the bubble but when I rang today to book via a flying club person, He said there were PE seats available, but only one seat in the bubble outbound and none available inbound. So I then asked whether there were two seats together downstairs and he said no. My DH is a nightmare when flying and I'm trying to reassure him that we should get 2 seats together or rewuest the exit row at the airport. I know that some seats are held back & become available at OLCI but he's not convinced. This is the first time in about ten years when we've gone such short notice that we haven't had 2 seats together when booking. So I have asked them to hold the seats for 48 hours while we think but options. Is there any way of finding out whether seats will become available at OLCI. Advice is really welcome. Thank You.

Katie :)

Hello, 60% of seats are available for pre-selection, the remaining 40% will be avaiable when OLCI opens.

I've done a quick check on Expert Flyer and it does show just 1 seat available for selection in the bubble on the VS75 on 15th March. The VS76 onn 12th April is showing 9 seats available on expert flyer,4 of which are 2 seats together.

The VS76 return is operated by the new A330-300 so PE is downstairs and there is no bubble.

Hope this helps,

Luke

Sorry my advice would be to check a few hours before OLCI opens (some on here have noticed seating available increase prior to the normal T-24 hours for OLCI.

Thanks for the replies. We will be returning on 12th April on the later flight which is still the 747. The VA Flying Club guy was adamant that there were no seats in the bubble for the whole of April. At least I can hope that some seats may come avalable at the front of the bubble if it's not full of VH people. It's a pity we can't find out before we book :)

Loads on 15th March are currently showing 18 spare seats in Premium so there must be two together. It's probably the VH fwd section of U/D which has not become available yet.
12th April showing 8 spare seats so again should be two together for you :)

Would you settle for the bubble but both of you having aisle seats, so that the aisle is between you? I don't know all the loads but it may be worth thinking about.

Also, row 75, (in the bubble) therefore A+C, & H+K, are exit row seats & these aren't released until the flight.

We returned on Sunday night on VS 16 & had 'reserved', 79H+K since we made the booking last June :D .

When I tried to do OLCI the webpage said I couldn't do OLCI & to check in at the airport as usual :0 .

To say I was a tad concerned was an understatemet as I knew the flight was oversold & we ddn't want to be bumped.

In the end I rang Virgin on their toll free number. The chappie I spoke to said it was because we had been moved to the exit row, but check in staff had to physically see that we were both able to operate the exit door in an emergency.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Let us know how you get on.

We also had that happen to us - twice - ending up in exit seats :) I wouldn't mind exit seats on this occasion. If we cannot locate two seats together, we'll just get to the airport at stupid o'clock & beg for the exit seats. :)

I'd try for getting seats together at OLCI (also worth looking a few hours before it opens too).

If as virginboy747 says there are 18 currently unallocated seats there is certainty that there will be pairs together.

But is being apart for 7 hrs really going to cause you lots of problems? I thought absence made the heart grow fonder !

Rather than start a new thread, and with apologies to the OP for hijacking this one :)...........

Can 70AC/HK bulkhead seats in PE upper deck be grabbed at twilight check in or are they only released on day of departure?

Ta.

The issue with 70 is that is is part of the block booking of seats that VH have exclusive allocation of (along with the whole front half of the bubble) so the chances are that a VH customer will have already grabbed them a long time ago.

Also, 70 is a bassinet position for PE on the LGW/MAN 747's, so if there are any babies travelling you could get bumped from those seats for them, or be sat opposite a little one for the whole flight!

Thanks Neil.

After sleeping on it last night, I came to the same conclusions as you re getting bumped to another seat. I'll stick with 79AC I think. Cheers. y)

Hi Iozza

79A+C are good seats IMO as you can recline them for all the flight, & not have to be concerned that you will have to put them upright at any stage as there's no-one behind you. Also you can have a quick getaway upon landing ;)

Yeah, I have had them before.

Last time we flew to HAV the people in front had their seats reclined the moment the crew were released after take-off....and it wasnt all that comfortable, hence thought about trying 70.

Made it difficult to watch the PTV but seeing as I'm taking my Macbook this time it'll probably be ok.
