I can see Virgin Blue paying out a lot of compensation. The Mum is clearly saying the right things. "Ms Williamson said Riley, now 20 months, had seen various specialists since the incident after suffering from anxiety and withdrawal.

That sounds like a VERY expensive lawsuit.

Sounds like the FA was trying to have a bit of fun and had good intentions but clearly an example of "US" culture of sue for anything and everything!

I'm sure she will get a good pay out here.

He shouldn't have done it, but I do feel for the FA losing his job over trying to help a family play a game of peek-a-boo, especially if the child was screaming!

And of course Herald Sun is part of News Corp...

I consider myself to be a fair, measured sort of chap. I have a son with severe Autism, and hence tend to be more sensitive to Child issues, but after reading this article, i can't help but feel sympathy for the FA. As far as i'm concerned, natalie williamson has lost all of my sympathy with her inflamed, litigious account of proceedings, no doubt, with the careful guidance of her attorney.

Yes, i accept that the FA, did take matters too far, but, to hear the mother talk, you'd have thought that the poor kid was subjected to the kind of torture the is the preserve of Criminal Minds.

If this had happened to us, yes, i would have been a little miffed, but i would have accepted the apology, and the free flights, and that would be that. I'm fairly certain that the Father's estrangement from his mother will have far greater potential for trauma, but such trauma won't have any financial value. What a crazy, financially-driven world we now live in.

oh please, the child was probably in the locker for about 10 seconds, i doubt he was even aware of what was going on.

Oh, for heaven's sake! When my son was about 5 we were going on holiday accompanied by my cousin. We were nearly ready to go but he had disappeared. I thought he had gone round the block on his bike and kept on looking out for him but no sign then a passer-by came and said there was a child locked in the car. Sure enough he was locked in and sobbing hard :# He had climbed into the boot intending to surprise us when we came to put in the cases but we had delayed because we were waiting for him to appear. A few cuddles and a drink to cool him down soon sorted him out.

I would suggest that young Master Williamson should have a few more cuddles instead of being hawked around to various strangers in order to build up a case against DJ. I'd also say that any anxiety and withdrawal is more to do with his parents' separation than 10 seconds in an overhead locker v(

Why, viewing this thread on my iPad or iPhone, does the thread title change to 'DJ' attendant? It was VA when I wrote it and first saw the thread on my desktop PC....there's an interesting glitch here somewhere!

Possibly edited by one of the Mods as DJ is the correct airline code for Virgin Blue.

Dont panic Suzanne, it's no glitch, one of the mods just edited the title slightly just to make it clear this story was about Virgin Blue (DJ flight code) and not Virgin Atlantic (VS). Even though Virgin Atlantic use the flight code VS, many people still use the VA for Virgin Atlantic even though VA is actually the flight code of V Australia. Confused, you will be

Probably because the code 'VA' is for V.Australia, a totally different airline to Virgin Blue. 'VA' could also be confused as Virgin Atlantic. 'DJ' is the correct code for Virgin Blue.

Shocking. A child of 20 months cannot suffer from anxiety, that's mad. I suffer anxiety along with other things and it's definitely nothing I've had since that age. I think she's the one with the problems, maybe she should see the specialist? It's definitely something she shouldn't pass onto her child, be it on purpose or not as it could lead to bigger problems one day, and believe me, she doesn't want that.
I believe they did the right thing in sacking the FA but it was a joke! Maybe he shouldn't have closed the locker.

She needs to stop going after money, lighten up abit and learn to take a joke!!

I also notice nearer the top it says she got 3 free flights yet near the bottom it says 2 return flights?

All kids should be checked in with the luggage.
