Flying Club account suspended: help!

Hello!

Anyone ever had this problem?

Tried to log into my FC account, wouldn't let me in, message saying suspended, so called FC and they said it's due to fraud! I asked what would happen and they were very sketchy but said a manager would call me back.

Not surprisingly, no one has called me back!

I can now login to my FC account but miles from my recent VS flight and missing and when trying to claim I have to call!

A bit concerned if there has been fraud as my person details are in there, but no one as VS will tell me anything!

Luke :)

I would certainly change the password on your account and remove any personal details if possible like DoB, address etc until you can be sure VS have sorted out the problem.

I wouldn't expect a manager to call until next week it's the weekend afterall and gthe CS staff you spoke to probably won't have access to all the suspected activity.

When my credit card was stoped I only got the full story from the fraud department (who only worked 9-5 Mon to Fri). The 'normal' call centre person could only give me very brief details as their access to the account had been restricted to only basic informatiom.

Hope your trip is going OK and don't let this spoil it.

Maybe Virgin do random fraud spot checks? Or a computer had picked up on something "funny", maybe your last flight if you no longer have the miles?

Hope it is resolved soon, keep us up to date.
Enjoy SFO?

You are talking about your FC account, not a credit card?

I've heard of something like this happening where people have accrued lots of miles very quickly which makes them look at how they were earned. Also anything outside of T&Cs (eg. buying and selling miles on Ebay, setting up bogus accounts to avoid the "buy miles" limits, etc). Sometimes buying a reward flight for someone else can do it, if they think you were paid in some way.

Hopefully its just a mistake in your case and will be quickly resolved.

R3dV

When I try to log in to my FC account I get a message:

We're sorry your account is currently unavailable. Please try again later or contact your Flying Club helpline.

Not sure why?!

I can't get in either. At least we know it's not our specific accounts that are unavailable!

I get the "Sorry, there's been a slight problem" message too. It was definitely working earlier today, I keep looking to see if my missing miles are ever going to appear :(!

Yes, I've got the same issue. As we speak the VS technical team are leaping into purposeful action.

I tried to access my account this evening also but couldn't. I rang FC to check some reward seat availability, and was told the FC members system was down till 23:00hrs for maintenance, although i was able to put a couple of reward seats on hold, so that part of the system is obviously working.

About a year ago somebody had used my miles to upgrade a flight from LAX to LHR (I think) from economy to UC. Fortunately I spotted this on my account about a week before they were due to fly so called flying club and after about an hour of speaking to various people confirming I had never heard of the person that had used my miles, they were refunded about a week later. It seemed that this sort of thing was not that unusual.

Its amazing what people will do but how do they expect not to get caught. Its not like you can fly under an assumed name or am I being naive?

Or, it could have been simple miss-key by someone in the VS call centre?

Impossible as Data Protection questions have to be answered and verified before redeeming any miles from an account..

Anything that requires human action does not equate to absolutism!

Did you get anywhere with this enyce085?

Absolutely nowhere!

My account is back up and running, all miles etc have been credited with no issues at all.

I called up and spoke with the team and they knew nothing about it - despite me taking the name of the person I spoke to and asking for a manager to call me back to explain.

I've got the email address of the flying club team to write in to complain - to be honest, I can't be bothered. I've taken it as another "process" issue with VS - as long as my account is working, I have no issues.

Service from FC remains an area where improvement is needed - service has been far better from the call centre in Cardiff (however, they are limited in what they can help with!)

Well if it's working that's good.

That's if Swansea are working :-p I hear that they have been closed loads due to problems and training! At least Gold and Uc are dealt with at Creepy Crawley, not looking forward to them moving.

Well, just logged into my account to find the dreaded suspension notice! Just rang the FC helpline and was told the account is being investigated by FC support and there is no more information! Arghhh, anyone knows how long this process normally takes?
