Load Check please?

Would one of you kind souls be good enough to check the VS31 this Sunday (10th)? I'm kind of hoping that Y is rammed and PE still has some space to improve my chances of a miles only upgrade :)

Thanks

You're in luck:

J1 D1 R1 Z1 W9 S5 K2 Y0 B0 L0 M0 Q0 X0 N0 O0

But it's tight - why not call and try now - they might just do it to save further work at the airport.

Hmm, that looks like as good a result as I could have hoped for. Thanks Slinky, I'll give them ago. I'm guessing you're an old hand at this sort of thing, so apart from asking them nicely, any tips on how to approach it?

I may be pushing my luck, but I'm hoping I can get away with miles and no cash because I want to 'persuade' my better half that PE is the way to fly from now on, but anything involving extra money will probably go down like a lead balloon...

There may well be not upgrade availability - but if you do call, you could say that you can see that Y is full and PE isn't, perhaps they would have a word with the revenue team and see if they'll release a seat, and save any complicated moving around of people on the day of the flight?

No joy sadly, they told me that they would only release seats for rewards upgrades 48 hours before departure... so guess I'll call back on Friday then. Thanks, and will let you know how I get on...

Interesting that you got told 48 hours, I wonder if thats an automated thing that that of there are x% of seats available then open up reward availablity for that class.

It seems from what I have seen is that this is the case that reward availablity has shifted from looking 365 days out to now having to look far more last minute in the majority of cases. Frustrating for those people who save business miles for personal travel where forward planning is far more a pre-requisite.

Well that's not to say that there were not some previously available earlier - could just be that any remaining seats are up for grabs in this way once you get to 48 hours beforehand...

Absolutely, I am sure there were a few up earlier as otherwise there would be a serious uproar - but I believe there is not as much forward planning availablity as we would have seen a year ago. Just my opinion from trying to source reward seats for UC anyway - I dont think it is as applicable to Y but in parts maybe to PE.

Anyway, outcome of this was that they were totally inflexible on the phone, said I would have to go back to the travel agent I booked through, upgrade my seats to at least an L class, and then they would talk about possibly upgrading me to PE...

So clearly no interest in shifting people up at this stage. Will have to see if I have more success at the airport.
