The theory states we land at 16:40 into JFK on a Saturday.... I'm not convinced. I usually take VS3 but couldn't get a ticket for PE on that one, so trying the 45 for the first time.

Am I right to expect horrific qs at Immigration?

Expect the worst but be prepared to be surprised.

A number of international flights arrive quite close together at the 16:00 mark so it all depends which have arived and from where.

The queues were over 90 mins on my last visit

VS045 is the flight that we normally catch when going to JFK.
Unfortunately it arrives at a busy time at JFK T4.
The quickest we’ve got through immigration is 45 mins, normally it’s over an hour.
After immigration & customs we normally end up just catching the 1800 bus to Manhattan.

In March it was nearly 2 hours....Bags had been removed from the baggage belt and piled up in the middle!

took us over 2 hours on April 1st !!!!! honest.also never seen so many people sent to secondary

If you have an onward connecting flight that leaves within 3 hours from the time you land, you can obtain a "fastpass" through security from the VS ground crew when leaving the aircraft.

Otherwise, it's a case of getting off the plane as quickly as you can and hoping that not too many other flights have arrived at the same time as your flight.

changed my flight.... the the vs017.... and got a room at Newark Airport Hotel ... Onward travels on Saturday morning will be easier! Thanks for the info though.
