V-Flyer

Question- further to my Nairobi posting a few weeks ago I booked us into PE through VH- coming up with an H fare code. However, on faffing around on the VS site today I see that the difference for an S fare from a K fare (which seems the same price as the H) is £200- but I have enough miles to upgrade us to UC from an S.

Does Anyone know if VH would be able to change the fare class on payment of a supplement? Or will I have to cancel the flight bits with VH and rebook direct with VS? Silly me for not noticing how to use these miles- but it's only since joining here that I know how to use them properly!!

I have never used VH, but it has been said on here many times that you can't upgrade using points / miles if you have booked with them.

If you are going to cancel and rebook, you will have to do the maths t see if any loss of deposit / other penalty make it cost effective.

The only option I can see would be to fully cancel your package and rebook flights and accom separately,but you will of course have to abide by the VH cancellation terms, and will no doubt lose money.

....or take the PE seats on this trip, add to your points total, and use your miles next time. 8D

Jason, I think it highly unlikely that VH will let you take the flights out of your holiday (but I stand to be corrected). Which means you would have to cancel the whole thing and start again.

It is, by my calculation, 60 days until your holiday. This brings you into the 57-70 day cancellation charges with VH and that is 30% of the booking price. Which would probably be quite a lot.

The next level, 29-56 days is 50%.

Just to close the loop on this one- spoke to the incredibly helpful VH customer services who were able to change my H fare for an S fare at the same published price as VS. Spoke to Flying club after- the result is UC flights to Nairobi to start our honeymoon! And the wife won't know til we get to the airport....

So as it is my first UC flight if anyone can recommend good seats on the A343 I'd be very grateful- it's wide open at the moment. I promise to say hello from the CH and write a TR!

Regarding your seats, anywhere on the 343 is good in J, just avoid that separate B zone section inbetween the galley and the PE cabin.

you might want to try for the 'K' sise as you won't have any other pax facing you.

A lower number - close to the front and the loo. A higer one closer to the bar and possible noise

Interesting, as I had no joy last month when trying to achieve a similar outcome and move to an upgradeable Y fare from the N class fare VH had booked me into (there was a load of G availability) ! !

The first person I spoke to in a call centre far away had no idea what I was asking for or how to do it. I redialled their local customer services and the chap instantly knew what I was asking for. I guess it depends who you speak to?
