Redeeming Amex point on joint account

Morning all- apologies for a query with a first post, but wondering if you can help me with a few things.

I have a joint Amex with my dad and between us we're sitting on a lot of points. He's kindly offered to let me use the points towards virgin miles for flights to the state later in the year with a friend. As he is the Amex account holder he can only transfer the miles to his account, I believe.

Is it possible to link the Flying Club accounts of me and my dad so that I can spend the miles, and if so, can I spend them on flights for myself and my friend? Or will he have to buy the flights on my behalf?

Thanks for any guidance!

Welcome.

You are correct that when he transfers his points they will have to go in to his FC account.

He can ring up Virgin and make you an authorised user on his account, so you can use his miles whenever you want without the need for him to be present when you call.

The other option is as you have mentioned, he can just book the flights for you and your friend.

Thanks,
Neil
