First off apologies if this isn't the right place to post this question, but I've been lurking on the forums for a while and most questions do seem to be answered so here goes.....

My boyfriend and I have booked a package holiday through VH, flying VS LHR-JFK on 7 May PE, then JFK-BOS on Delta (or more specifically Delta Coonections), then home BOS-LHR on 16 May PE.

Now I know that we both get 2 x 23kgs on the VS PE baggage allowance, but does anyone know what baggage allowance if any we are likely to get on the internal connection?

As it was all booked as a package, I kinda expected to get one free bag, but now I'm not sure and am worried that we'll arrive at JFK and have to pay to check baggage to BOS.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Can't wait for the trip now, as it's our first virgin flight and we splashed out to experience PE!

Hello Penny, welcome!

As I understand it your baggage allowance will be different for each airline, so you will only be allowed the standard Delta internal allowance:

First checked bag: $23 USD/CAD* if checked in online or $25 USD/CAD* at the airport kiosk, ticket counter or curbside
Second checked bag: $32 USD/CAD* online or $35 USD/CAD* at the airport


Definitely worth speaking with VH though (recommend using their FB to contact as you'll get a faster response!)

That's what i thought, but will definitely double check with VH though.

Just means that I'll have to keep the shopping in check in New York, and then go mad in Boston!!

After reading these forums, I've also been trying to convince my boyfriend about buying CH access through VH but I just can't get him to agree....oh well something to aspire to for the future.

FB = FaceBook

IzzyRose, I believe FB means Facebook.

VH have a FB page where there are staff answering queries.

Just be careful with your liquids - I purchased a very nice bottle of my favourite aftershave at LHR but forgot to put it in my checked bag at JFK - I ended up having to check a 2nd bag at a $40 cost (on AA) to ensure I didn't lose the bottle of aftershave (which cost $85!).

I'd say that 'agreement' isn't always needed from your boyfriend - just book it and suprise him (even if it's with his credit card!) lol - he's appreciate it.

OP should have taken the train from NYC to BOS then there wouldn't be an issue with baggage allowance. Nevermind.

Sky has a good point here. If its not too late, the best way to travel NYC-BOS is on the train called the Acela Express. No luggage limit, you get to see parts of the New England coast, free wifi and you don't need to go through security at JFK/LGA/EWR.

Cost is about $100 - $140 pp

The Northeast Regional also does the same route - a lot cheaper but only 40 mins or so slower.

I did it about ten years ago and gave a different view of the country

I did it a couple of years ago and can highly recommend it. y)

When you factor in the time to get to the airport, the length of time before flights that you must be there, the hassle of security and the length of time getting from your destination airport, it works out much the same in terms of time

Thanks for all your comments guys, looking back we probably didn't research things too much and definitely went for the no hassle factor by booking it all as a package.

Will definitely consider the train if we ever do this in the future.

I'd say best way to get from NY to Boston is by bus, so cheap and not much longer than the train

We are hoping to do NYC/BOS probably next year, was thinking of driving and planning a couple of stays along the way. Only 250miles in total so not too bad.

Took us 3 and a half hours on coach so driving will probably be even less
