I'm flying out to mMCO next week, and am a smoker,and i was just wondering if there were any set/unset rules if nicotine inhalers would be allowed onboard the plane?

The last time i went 2 years ago, i wore a patch,which did kinda do its job,but now ive seen this new nicotine spray,that you can use each time you feel the urge to light up,and i thought this would be a perfect way to survive the long 9hr flight.

As with any nicotine patch/product,the prices are quite dear,and before i go out and buy some, i thought i would ask you guys first,incase any of you are smokers,and have used anything onboard,or what you would suggest?

My partner was told you're not allowed as it may encourage other smokers to light up (assuming they interpret the nicotine inhaler as a real cigarette!).

We took gum to be on the safe side.

As a slight aside, on our recent flight to GRO with Ryanair, they were selling smoke free cigs at some exhorbitant price with the pitch that they could be used during flight. Maybe so on Ryanair but VA do not allow them - they were very clear on that point as part of the safety brief during our LGW-MCO flight last Tues.

So that is definitely not an option for the OP.

Going by the virgin link above,im in 2 minds, as if i got the new nicotine spray thats been advertised,it could quite easily be interperated as just a mouth spray/freshener.

I checked at the pharmacy too,to see if these were in a pressurised container,and there not, its just a simple pump spray device.

I suppose it'll be down to whether i risk buying a spary only to be told i cant use it, or just stick to patches.

I have been using an E-Ciggie for the last 2 months with great success. I would not use it openly on a flight but cannot believe that I am not allowed to carry it in my hand luggage when I would be allowed to carry a pack of cigarettes and matches!
So if I carry this in my hand luggage it could be confiscated?

The use of a ‘stop smoking’ aid is not permitted if it could in any way give the impression to other passengers that smoking is allowed on board. This means that you can’t use any device that emits vapour, has a power source, or produces a light.

This prohibits the 'electronic cigarette' devices that are available. The Nicorette Inhalator (which is just a piece of plastic that you put a nicotine cartridge in and suck on basically) should be allowed - as it doesn't emit vapour, have a power source or produce light.

AFAIK the new Nicorette QuickMist mouth spray should be fine as well. The data I looked at said that the size is 13ml so should be fine for liquid restrictions too.

No, it wouldn't be confiscated (as long as it complys with the liquid restrictions? if applicable) - you just can't get it out of your bag and start puffing on it in the aircraft.
